Hotel 4, Auckland Airport

This adaptive reuse project is for turning a two-storey office building into a four-star 3.5 star hotel at Auckland Airport.

TSA Riley was engaged to provide full project management services including Engineer to the Contract from feasibility through to design, procurement, and construction. Construction involved deconstructing the old office building back to the original steel and concrete structure, extending its footprint, adding extra storeys, and then completing the façade to wrap it all together. The development included a full back of house set-up with the front of house including a restaurant, café, and bar.

Hotel 4 was originally intended to meet the pre-COVID-19 demand for accommodation at Auckland Airport and was designed to sit within their suite of hotels and provide a mid-point accommodation option. However, following the reduction of international travel due to COVID-19 restrictions, the decision was made to complete the structure and façade of the hotel only. The completion of the fitout was put on hold, and we are looking forward to when this project recommences.
