ProjectHawke’s Bay Regional Prison Staff Facilities

The Department of Corrections engaged TSA Riley to provide full project management services to deliver the design and construction of a new staff facility dedicated to supporting their Hawke’s Bay Prison staff’s safety, wellbeing and career development.

The new facility includes ample lockers and storage for body armour, a gym, training room, showers and changing room, and staff kitchen.

To ensure the project’s successful execution, TSA Riley’s responsibilities included consulting with various stakeholders and gather valuable input and insights to develop a refined design brief that would provide clear deliverables criteria and guide the design to ensure it aligned with the established brief.

We were responsible for developing and tracking a comprehensive master programme that consider the project’s scope and met time requirements and objectives. Understanding the unique security requirements of the environment, TSA Riley ensured this was at the forefront of all design and construction decisions and processes accordingly. A robust procurement approach that adhered to strict Government procurement requirements ensured the best-suited Contractor was selected for the project and TSA Riley provided ongoing Construction Contract administration.

Through the construction phase, we provided 13 months of Construction Observations, overseeing the progress and ensuring adherence to quality standards. We also chaired and minuted the Project Control Group (PCG) and site meetings, and provided regular reports and updates to the Client, fostering effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders.

The Staff Facility was opened in May 2023 and handed over to excited and satisfied staff.
